How it worksOutlook Accelerator improves performance of your Outlook by defragmenting large files where Outlook stores your e-mails, contacts, documents, etc. These files tend to grow relatively fast and being constantly changed by Outlook they usually become hardly fragmented very quickly. Even if you run a disk defragmenter on a regular basis Outlook files stay contiguous for just a shot while after the disk defragmentation and then become fragmented again. At the same time Outlook mailbox files may well be as large as 1Gb or even larger. Apparently the less fragmented these files are the better is disk access time and the faster is your Outlook. Outlook Accelerator is an add-on for Microsoft Outlook. Once installed it does not need to be run manually as it starts automatically when you start Outlook and does its job in background while Outlook is running. Outlook Accelerator will automatically identify files, which need defragmenting, and you will only have to decide how often you want files to be defragmented. There are four options:
When the time comes to defragment files Outlook Accelerator does not necessarily start working straight away. For example, if you have just started Outlook and are now receiving e-mails, your mailbox file is being continually changed and there is no point defragmenting this file at the moment. So Outlook Accelerator will wait for a quiet time when Outlook does not change files too often. It is worth to mention that defragmentation interval (hourly, daily, weekly) is not necessarily precise due to the nature of Outlook Accelerator. Apparently if you do not run Outlook for longer than a selected time interval Outlook Accelerator does not have a chance to do its job on time. So you should accept that next defragmentation would take place at earliest opportunity after the specified time interval. Outlook Accelerator uses the native Windows defragmentation support and does not access hard drive directly. Therefore Outlook Accelerator is quite safe and under no circumstances can break the disk structure consistency. |
